Race Career Highlights

21 Ironman finishes - total
11 Ironman World Championships
1 Ironman 70.3 World Championship

Highlights of past season(s)
Running with 7 year daughter Madison at the ‘Fast and Furious 5k Race’.  She was so motivating to others in the race and cheered her on.  We ran together and as she approached the finish line sprinting to the finish.  What a smile as she cross the line.

Favorite Race Experience
My first Ironman which happened to be the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.  This was on the old course with the famous “PIT”.  I had only completed one ½ Ironman to qualify and had never run past 13 miles. I ended up finishing the race with my fastest Hawaii time even though I have tried 10 more time to try to beat it. I will never forget coming down Alli Drive knowing what I had just completed.

Worst Race Experience
This was when I was first starting out in the sport and you listen to what others are doing in the race so you follow.  Bad decision as I took off my hand pump and tool bag to lighten up my bike.  DUMMY!  Just after the turning around on the bike I hit a nail getting that dreaded flat. I ran back to the transition barefooted on Highway 1. I had made it back to start the run but there were so many rock in the bottom of my feet that it hurt to put my shoes on. I went into Medical and they got a stiff brush to get them out. OUCH!  I should have waited for the Sag truck, but never saw it on the 12 mile run back.

One unique or interesting fact about you or your life
I love to spend time with my family, taking trips and just hanging out.  It never gets old.

Best training advice ever received
"Keep on running and don't walk the aid stations.”
